We had the pleasure of watching this brilliant film at the BFI on Saturday night as part of the London Film Festival. It follows the musician / songwriter (and occasional contributor to this site) Edwyn Collins and his partner Grace Maxwell as they rebuild their life together after Edwyn’s near fatal stroke changed everything. The festival categorised it as documentary but I’m not entirely sure that’s what it is. It certainly isn’t what I was expecting, it’s much less obvious than that. Someone described it as ‘a hymn to happiness’. That’s what it is, a soul film, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.
The film is about to go on tour with preview screenings across the country from 20th October. Screenings will include an intimate Q&A and an acoustic performance with Edwyn and his original soundtrack collaborator, Carwen ‘Colorama’ Ellis. Also on the road will be Grace Maxwell, and directors Edward Lovelace and James Hall.
