“A scrupulously researched, elegantly written and highly absorbing account of the intersection of politics and music.” – The Independent / “You’ll never listen to the radio the same way again… Lynskey brings songs you take for granted back to life while making ‘difficult’ songs seem approachable.” – Elle / “Superbly written, expertly researched. ” – Shortlist
Dorian Lynskey’s recently published book is the story of revolution rock – a series of discourses on protest songs from Strange Fruit through to American Idiot. It’s totally brilliant. Dorian – a writer for Q and The Guardian amongst others – has managed to brilliantly dissect the schizoid politics of the second half of the 20th century through the pivotal protest songs that spawned from the times. Highly recommended.
