There’s someone out there that I need to thank for bringing this book to my attention. I just wish I could remember who it is.
Last month, a Caught by the River reader, someone that has written to us before, dropped us a line saying, simply, “I think you will find this of interest”. On the e mail was a link to an American radio interview with a chap called Philip Connors, author of a book, just published in the States, called Fire Season: Field Notes from a Wilderness Lookout. I followed the link, listened to this really interesting guy talk about his life-changing move from city dweller to fire lookout in the Gila National Forest and I bought the book. I’m reading it now and it’s great, I’m enjoying it very much. But I’m buggered if I can remember who I need to thank. If you happen to be reading this, I owe you a beer.
