When a CD arrives claiming its influences as WG Sebald, psychogeography and the South Downs, it’s going to at least get a few spins on the Caught by the River stereo. Grasscut’s 2010 debut LP (‘1 Inch / 1/2 Mile’) landed on the mat with those bold claims and somehow managed to live up to them. When we heard there was a new record due this summer, we immediately booked them to play Port Eliot on Saturday 21st July. Just the end of last week, a new track arrived (the first from the band’s second LP, Unearth, out in July) and it’s utterly sublime.
