Caught by the River at Port Eliot Festival 2014

2nd June 2014

Our first day’s programme announcement:

Drift_01

Twice Music Week ‘Record Shop of the Year’ nominated and Totnes’ beacon of independent record retailing, The Drift Record Shop, are a new addition to the Caught by the River field at this summers Port Eliot Festival (24-27 July).

Filling in for our regular book and record sellers, Rough Trade, who, due to an ill-timed family wedding, have to be elsewhere that weekend, Drift will be carrying stock of everything related to the readings, talks and music that are taking place on our stage. Regular post-performance signing sessions will be happening in the shop and announced each day on a blackboard beside the boathouse.

As well as bringing the shop Drift have also been invited to curate the Thursday night’s entertainment, something they have done by bringing in musical talent from the South Devon region, giving us a first day programme which looks a little something like this:

3.00 DJ Stephen ‘Spoonful’ Parker
4.00 The Antidote Hour (chair Mathew Clayton)
Featuring an introduction to Devon Folklore Tapes
The Wild Flower Calendar
5.00 Roy Wilkinson’s Music & Nature Quiz: Featuring musical accompaniment from the marimba duo Malleticious.
First Prize: a pair of tickets for next year’s festival
6 – 10 Curated by The Drift Record Shop, Totnes
Featuring live music from
R.G.Morrison
Lux Harmonium
Matthew & Me
Bizarre Rituals x Drift Record Shop – Audio Visual Show

And after all that the Heavenly Jukebox DJs will be playing in the bar until the early hours. There you go, make the most of your ticket and get down on Thursday, it’s a beautiful place to be and a lot of fun to boot.

More information on the individual acts can be found in our Port Eliot artist bulletin here.
