We’re very excited to announce an autumn show at The Social, featuring four members of our extended family.
Danny George Wilson has played numerous Caught by the River events both indoors and outdoors over the years, as the frontman of the mighty Danny and the Champions of the World. That band released six studio albums between 2008 and 2017. Ahead of a brand new record, Danny returns to our London stage for a one-off performance with his new band.
Will Burns is a longtime friend of the river, having written for the site regularly over the past decade. His recently published, masterful book The Paper Lantern is book of the month for July and has been described by the Irish Times as a “timely and considered account of a country in crisis” and by the Daily Mail (!!!) as “full of acute social observations…a time capsule in the making.” Will will be reading from The Paper Lantern on the night.
Tasha Lee McCluney has been part of The Social family since the start…before the start even, when she ran the now-legendary Acoustically Heavenly nights in the late ’90s with Beth Orton, at The Crown and Two Chairmen on Dean Street. Tash will be playing records between Will and Danny. Expect country soul, country rock and country roll.
MC on the night is John Andrews, aka Andrews of Arcadia — one of Caught by the River’s earliest contributors and the host of all of our festival stages since we first set up at Port Eliot in 2009.
Tickets cost £10 (plus booking fee) and are available here. Lunker-tier Caught by the River subscribers can cash in a 20% discount on up to 2 tickets each — check your inbox for the discount code.
Shoutout to Louise Mason for the delicious poster.
