Mayday greetings! Marking the occasion, sound artist and composer Loula Yorke today releases her May Mixtape; the first in a new series of monthly sound offerings.
Loula writes: ‘I’m describing it as a cross-pollination between an ambient mixtape and an ASMR audio essay: a long-form original soundwork created by me fresh every month out of field recordings, room audio, musical sketches, voice notes, live footage and unreleased ear candy all hand-collaged together with loving care and intention. A psychedelic audio offering taking inspiration from Martha Rosler’s Semiotics of the Kitchen, the KLF’s Chill Out album and the V&A’s ASMR at the museum video series. The May mixtape tramples around over ideas such as the law of trespass, the impact of the work of Mira Calix, a walk in a secret wood and waking up at 4.25AM.’
