Caught by the River presents…The Sand Band. The Social, London, Wednesday, January 19th.
Just before Christmas, a friend of mine, on handing me a promo copy of the debut album by The Sand Band, asked, “You’re into Shack, right?” I am into Shack. I have been a fan of Shack’s Mick Head ever since he and his mates released the first Pale Fountains single almost thirty years ago. “You’re going to love this then”.
Just like Mick and Shack, The Sand Band are from Liverpool. Anyone with any love for British guitar bands would guess that very soon in to this record. Scouse heritage they call it. I can definitely hear Shack, I can also hear Mick’s record with The Strands, the ever so great, ‘The Magical World of The Strands’. I can also hear Richard Hawley (romance) and The Coral (fair enough, David from the group played guitar in them for a bit) and Spiritualized (space, man).
The album, ‘All Through The Night’, comes out (on Deltasonic) on Monday, Jan 17th. Here’s a taste:
Hope to see you at the show.
