Dear Jeff,
Four years ago in the Foreword to Jeff Della Mura’s seminal Hooked on Floats (Vintage & Antique Fishing Floats from 1860 to 1960 – A Collector’s Companion)* I wrote ‘I love an open field in the dew of early summer, the buzz of an electricity pylon overhead, the smell of diesel mixed with candy floss and the untrammelled joy of expectation. To collect is to travel and never arrive. It is a drug without comedown and a world without end. Perhaps it is the secret of eternal youth.’ Collectors, dealers and dreamers are all welcome at the forthcoming National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair which takes place in Redditch on the morning of Sunday 13th November. The hall will host up to 40 dealers amongst whom will be Mr. Della Mura who will ‘be selling some of the specimens featured in Hooked on Floats at prices that bob well below the norm.’
