The National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair

John Andrews | 22nd October 2024

Ladies and gentlemen

You are given notice that on Sunday 17th November the next edition of The National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair will take place at the holy site of Redditch, the spiritual home of British fishing tackle manufacturing.  The fair – part riot and explosion of joy and wonder, part homage, part homecoming, part gathering of the clans and part good old fashioned buying and selling is now in its 20th year under my stewardship and continues to endure despite the harsh conditions that we are all having to deal with.  Every fair there are new stallholders, there is always fresh gear and an atmosphere of the utmost conviviality.  There isn’t a National Museum of Fishing Tackle in this country but Redditch is the closest you will find to it – for two days of the year only in May and November, a room of stallholders with unsurpassed curatorial knowledge, a mass of artefacts, all for sale and also in attendance the fair’s esteemed sponsor the one and only Mr. Neil Freeman, who will carry out free evaluations of any tackle that is brought to him.

I will be on the door as always and look forward to your good company should you be in attendance, there is plenty of free and secure parking, a cafeteria selling hot teas and cakes and other delights of a culinary nature.

Until 17th November…

John Andrews
