This is where Robin, Andrew and I (Jeff) say thank you to all of our readers and contributors for giving Caught by the River your time and support this year. We are now mid-way through our third year and it’s been the best one yet, what with the release of our book ‘A Collection of Words on Water’ and some really fantastic contributions to the site from our growing cast of collaborators.

Thanks to all of you who have dropped us a line to tell us how much you enjoy the site. It’s much appreciated. We are doing something different here and it’s good to know that it’s making sense to someone! Big thanks also to everyone who has made a purchase from our shop. Every bit of profit from sales is an enormous help towards running things. It’s taking up a hell of a lot of time now and actually costing us money to do it, so every penny we get in helps to keep things going. And thanks to everyone who has signed up to the mailing list. This is a great way for us to get news to you of CBTR happenings and offers. We have plans for events and a couple more books next year and you will be the first to know about them. Plus, there are more great music downloads coming your way. After five brilliant river themed compilations we have decided to change subject and have highly qualified guest selectors putting track-lists together as we speak. The subject? If you are signed up, you will find out very soon….

Outside of the site and the book, a real highlight of 2009 was the Port Eliot festival. A truly special weekend which we have been asked to participate in again next year (23 – 25 July, early bird tickets now on sale HERE). We are currently at work on the line-up and without giving too much away can tell you that it will be a great opportunity to come say hello and have a drink with us lot and all of your favourite contributors.

Other things to look forward to from us next year include; Pint by the River, The Caught by the River Guide to Nature Writing, The Bird Effect, More Words on Water, Country Bizarre, The Caught by the River Social Club, Berry on Brautigan, Letters From Arcadia, Matts birds, Dick Walker, Fred J Taylor…but for now, we leave you with a “We Wish you A Merry Christmas” and a priceless moment from the Sunday afternoon at Port Eliot courtesy of King Creosote.
